Enfamil is an American baby formula brand made by Mead Johnson Nutrition, now part of Reckitt. Unlike the UK and Nestlé brands that use stages 1, 2 and 3, Enfamil’s US infant formulas are made for the whole first year, from birth to 12 months. What is in Enfamil?
Enfamil infant formulas are milk-based powders with added vitamins and minerals, including iron. The cans we sell also list DHA, an omega-3 fat found in breast milk. NeuroPro Care is Enfamil’s premium line, and its can describes a blend inspired by breast milk. Gentlease uses a gentler protein for babies with tummy discomfort, and ProSobee is made from soy instead of cow’s milk.
Is Enfamil a good formula?
Infant formulas from well-known brands, Enfamil included, must meet strict rules on the nutrients they contain, so any of them can feed a healthy baby well. The best formula is the one your baby feeds, sleeps and grows well on. Your doctor can help you choose, especially if your baby was born early, has a medical condition or reacts badly to a formula.
Which Enfamil is best for a newborn?
- For most healthy newborns: Enfamil Infant or Enfamil NeuroPro Care. Both are for 0 to 12 months, so you do not need to change formula at 6 months.
- If your baby is often fussy or gassy: ask your doctor whether Gentlease could help, rather than switching on your own.
- If your baby was born early: use EnfaCare only when your doctor or hospital advises it.

How to prepare a US can of Enfamil
US cans measure water in fluid ounces (fl oz). One fl oz is about 30ml. Always use the scoop inside the can and follow its mixing table exactly.
- Wash your hands, and clean and sterilise the bottle and teat.
- Boil fresh water and let it cool as the can directs.
- Pour the water into the bottle first, then add level scoops of powder as the can says.
- Shake well and test a few drops on your wrist. It should feel warm, not hot.
- Feed straight away, and throw away any formula your baby does not finish.
